Elementary Standardized Testing

Dear Parents,

We will begin our Stanford Achievement testing the week of April 15th -19th. Please do your best to have your scholar present each day during testing. BOLPA will serve breakfast daily at 8:00 a.m. Please have your scholar in attendance to ensure they have plenty of time to eat breakfast. Even if your scholar eats breakfast at home, we ask that they arrive by 8:30 a.m. each day to ensure they have plenty of time to unpack, use the restroom, and prepare for testing. We strongly recommend that parents reschedule any doctor/dentist appointments during this period to ensure the scholars’ total attendance and attention. Please note that there will not be any tutoring offered during this week.

It is also necessary for you to ensure your child gets adequate nightly rest by limiting electronic device usage and television time before bed. “A study of children ages four to eleven found that increased screen time was associated with increased sleep anxiety, night waking, and total sleep disturbance. Hours of television has been linked with poor sleep quantity and quality”. (Caitlyn Fuller, B.A. Eric Lehman M.S, Marsha B. Novic M.D).

In addition to ensuring they get proper rest, eating during this time is also essential. Ensure your child eats a healthy, well-balanced breakfast at home or school daily. Please try to refrain from feeding them foods or beverages high in sugar. “In the brain, excess sugar impairs both our cognitive skills and our self-control” (Joel Fuhrman M.D.). By working together, we can make your scholar’s experience both positive and successful.

Lastly, please know that we are standing on the word of God, and we ask that you speak life over your scholars each day as you motivate them to do their best. In addition to encouraging scholars to listen closely and follow directions at home, you may send positive notes for them to read before testing or encouraging video messages to your scholar’s teacher that they will share with the class.

  • Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
  • 2 Corinthians 2:14. “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.”
  • Hebrews 13:6. “So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”
  • Psalm 119:99–100. “I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.”
  • James 1:5. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
  • James 1:19. Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

Thank you for partnering with us to make this a smooth and excellent week of testing!

Thank you,

BOLPA Elementary Team
