Writing Class Update – 1st

Dear Parents,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share with you the impressive progress your scholars have made this semester. From understanding the fundamentals of sentences to beginning to write sentences and, soon, short stories, they have shown a remarkable commitment to improving their writing skills.

As we move forward, I encourage you to continue to support your scholars in their writing endeavors. You can help by requiring them to practice writing short stories (3-5 sentences) on a single topic or using helpful websites like nightzookeeper.com. Additionally, keeping a daily journal can be a great way to help your scholar improve their skills.

Remember, good writers are also avid readers. Encourage your scholars to read as much as possible, as this will expose them to a variety of sentence structures and ways to use words in their own writing.

Please find attached our class grading rubric, which outlines all the required components for your scholar’s written work in detail. Please know that the grading rubric is subject to change. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support, and all the best,

Mr. Marco
